PILGRIMAGE
Mist ascending
Tide descending
Dawn breaks
upon the sands
scattered like dried leaves
I kneel & pray/prey/pry
upon broken seashells
that journeyed from afar
across the vast
open waters
Patiently I wait
I must be patient
for a gift from the sea
Til this day is done
Mist descending
Tide ascending
PILGRIM. Workshop
November 24, 2009 by chicory
I led the Pilgrim Workshop
at Shirlington last night
We discussed what a pilgrim
& pilgrimage is then wrote
a small poem about the idea
I invite those who attended & those
afar such as Rio 11 who decided Her layover
in Paris was more exciting or Oceansky
who was too busy dancing on her new
hardwood floor or lizbethc who got her
dates confused

Nice poem!! Rio11
My only suggestion
is to change the line
-- I say to me __
seems out of context
with the precise images
__maybe
1
self pronounced
2
proclaiming
something like that
to continue the strenght

Great idea artistanne!! I suggest a change
but deletion is better. But the it is no longer
a sappy love poem. . Wannabe??

I think it is a portait of me
I grew all the dried flowers & herbs & cardoon
Many items have memories on the right of mantle-
the iron belonged to my maternal grandmother
and on the right - an eel spear from a trip
to Italy which is a great conversation starter
at dinner parties
I still have dried wild flowers that lizbethc &
I gathered 30 years ago. Soon she will
post that poem that she wrote for me on that
day when we took a long walk to the river

Bougainvillea (wikipedia it) native of South America
Very popular in Europena cities because the vine roots are
narrow & deep and gives you greenery & flowers upon the
otherwise narrow stone streets. They are magnificent !
Like a waterfall!

lizbethc & i go back many many years. Her mother & my father were best friends
so it followed that she & I would be too. We grew up in the isolated mountains of Virginia about a mile from each other & shared poems before many of you were even born - (expect wannabe- who is older than dirt- grin) - before we even knew that one could actually be published or that anyone besides the two of us would want to read them. We have daydreamed ourselves across the cosmos

A work is never complete wannabe
just come & join us. It is fun We laugh
& give each other grief & advice
If we were all (experts) we would not
be here. You need a support group
I think you are a loner like me
I will begin with a theme relating to
November. Then a nifty writing exercise
& then bring a poem or two to share
Be there or be square. You are close
by so you should come
